Olivet College junior Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell) and sophomore Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) will compete in the 2006 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The women's championships are March 9-11, while the men's championships are March 16-18.
Lingbeek will compete in three events. She is seeded fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (:57.15), 12th in the 100-yard backstroke (:59.11) and 34th in the 200-yard backstroke(2:15.45). A three-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection, Lingbeek was 11th in the 100 back and 16th in the 100 fly at the 2005 national championships. A month ago, she was the MIAA champion in the 100 back and runner-up in both fly events.
Meisner will swim in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. He is the seventh seed in the 200 breaststroke (2:04.61) and 17th seed in the 100 breaststroke (:57.79). A 2005 and 2006 All-MIAA pick, he looks to improve on his 12th-place finish in both events at last year's national meet. The last two years, Meisner was the conference champ in the 200 breast and runner-up in the 100 breast.
