Men’s swimming and diving team defeats Calvin, 144-99
The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Calvin College, 144-99, tonight in Grand Rapids.

The Comets recorded seven first-place finishes, nine second-place finishes and six third-place finishes. Leading the way was sophomore Koji Takahashi (Etobicoke, Ontario/ Silver Thorn CI), who was a triple winner, winning two individual events and swimming a leg of a relay.
Takahashi was first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.12) and 200-yard butterfly (2:06.63). He swam the butterfly leg of the 400-yard medley relay (3:42.69). Juniors Juan Aguirre (Queretaro, Mexico) and Ananta Fetters (Fennville/Holland) along with sophomore Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) joined Takahashi on the relay.
Meisner also touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.67). The other three first-place finishes were by junior Steve Dastoli (Kalamazoo/Central), one-meter dive (244.55); freshman Steven Davis (Davidsonville, Md./DeMatha), 500-yard freestyle (4:56.41); and sophomore Mitch Powers (Kalamazoo/Central) in the 100-yard freestyle (:49.43).
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Aguirre, Powers, sophomore Brian Jaffee (Bowling Green, Ohio) and freshman Brad Voss (Lansing/Holt) took second with a time of 3:19.84).
Individual runner-up finishes were freshman Shawn Bergman (Chelsea), three-meter dive (233.35); freshman Garrett Draper (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), one-meter dive (237.05); Fetters, 200-yard individual medley (2:05.79); Jaffee, 1,000-yard freestyle (10:29.71); freshman Brian Johnson (Lansing/Eastern), 200-yard backstroke (2:06.02); freshman Ryan Key (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy Prep), 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.21); and Meisner in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.87).
The third-place finishes were Aguirre, 200-yard backstroke (2:06.36); Jaffee, 500-yard freestyle (5:01.51); freshman Justin Huselbos (Wayland), three-meter dive (187.20); freshman Igor Rasula (Belgrade, Serbia), 200-yard freestyle (1:51.29); sophomore Jason Wheatley (Portage/Central), 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.05) and junior Levi Yockey (Phoenix, Ariz./North), 200-yard butterfly (2:12.30).
Olivet will take a week off from conference action and compete against Ohio Northern University next Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. Hillsdale College, which sponsors only women's swimming and diving, is hosting the dual meet.
