ALMA, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's soccer team ended the 2024 season with a 3-2 setback to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Alma College today at Scotland Yard.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olivet took a 1-0 lead in the third minute when junior Aidan Reynolds scored after receiving a pass from junior Kyle Buchan.
- The score stayed 1-0 at halftime.
- The Scots seized a 2-1 lead with two goals in a span of little less than two minutes. The first one was by Christian Swies at the 53:42 mark and the second was by Tristan Salazar at the 55:28 mark.
- The Comets scored the equalizer in the 66th minute when freshman Abraham Jimenez sent a free kick into the goal at the near post.
- Alma tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute when Ethan Swartzentruber found the back of the net.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet outshot the Scots in total shots, 24-12 but held just a slim 8-7 edge in shots-on-goal.
- Senior Zachary Stephan recorded a team-best five shots, followed by Jiminez and freshman Caiden Smith with four apiece.
- Freshman Brody Gearin had three shots.
- Senior Carlos Santos started in goal, allowing two goals and making three saves in 55 minutes.
- Sophomore Nicholas Van Port Fleet gave up the winning goal and had one save in 35 minutes.
