KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's soccer team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College, 2-1, tonight at Mackenzie Field.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- During the first half, the Comets' best chance to score came in the 17th minute when junior Jaden Cantu's header clanged off the crossbar. Both teams had two shots-on-goal in the first 45 minutes.
- In the 58th minute, Olivet had a golden opportunity to put one in the back of net. A free kick by freshman Abraham Jimenez was stopped by the keeper. Cantu gathered the rebound and his shot was saved by the keeper.
- Junior Matuza scored the Hornets' goal in the 68th minute.
- With 18:05 left in the game, freshman Caiden Smith was fouled inside the box. Senior Zachary Stephan stepped to the spot and scored a penalty kick goal to tie the score.
- Kalamazoo answered a little more than two minutes later with what proved to be the winning goal by Ben Battreall.
- In the final seconds of the game, a long shot by junior Aidan Reynolds was just turned away by the keeper at the far post.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet tallied 12 shots.
- Jimenez led the way with four shots, including two on-goal.
- Sophomore Nicholas Van Port Fleet registered six saves.
