Men's Soccer: Kouyate named All-MIAA Second Team
HUDSONVILLE. – The University of Olivet freshman men's soccer player Djimo Kouyate has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Second Team for the 2023 season.
Kouyate leads the team in scoring during his rookie season on the soccer pitch. He started five of the seven conference contests and tied for first among all MIAA players in league competition with seven goals, tied for second with 13 shots-on-goal and was third with 16 points. Kouyate scored both goals in a 2-2 tie against Kalamazoo College, recorded a hat trick in a 4-0 win at Alma College, and scored one goal each in a 1-1 tie against Albion College and 3-2 loss to Trine (Ind.) University. He assisted on both goals in a 2-1 victory over Adrian College.
Kouyate and the Comets are back in action tonight against Trine in the MIAA Tournament semifinals. Game time at Shive Field in Angola, Indiana, is 7 pm. Olivet, the No. 6 seed, advanced to the semifinals when it upset No. 3 seed Hope College, 1-0, in the first round.
