OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's soccer team started Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 2-2 tie against Kalamazoo College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
- Final Score: Olivet 2, Kalamazoo 2
- Location: Cutler Athletic Complex; Olivet, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 1-3-5 overall, 0-0-1 MIAA; Kalamazoo 5-5-1 overall, 0-0-1 MIAA
- The Hornets led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal by Aidan Gillig in the 37th minute.
- The Comets leveled the score in the 61st minute when freshman Djimo Kouyate found the back of the net with his first collegiate goal.
- Olivet went ahead 2-1 less than three minutes later. Kouyate scored the goal after receiving a pass from sophomore Aidan Reynolds.
- Kalamazoo netted the equalizer in the 78th minute. After a Hornet player was fouled inside the box, Henry Plumstead stepped to the spot and buried the penalty kick into the goal.
- Neither team was able to generate a great scoring opportunity in the final 12 minutes.
- Olivet recorded just eight shots in the game.
- Kouyate led the way with three shots, all in goal.
- Five other players each tallied one shot.
- Freshman Nicholas Van Port Fleet was in goal for the majority of the game, and collected eight saves.
- Olivet travels to play league rival Albion College Saturday at 12 p.m.
