OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team came up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin University, 3-1, on Senior Day at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Calvin entered the game ranked No. 19 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.

- The Knights led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal by Oliver Akintade in the 22nd minute. The shot came from inside the six-yard box.
- Calvin stretched its lead to 2-0 in the eighth minute of the second half. Kadin Shaban found the back of the goal after receiving a pass from Mason Smith.
- The Knights capped their scoring in the 60th minute. On a corner kick by Shaban, Jacob Goodling headed the ball into the net.
- The Comets scored their lone goal in the 79th minute when senior Coda Mendoza blasted a shot from 25 yards from the right side of the field into the upper left corner of the goal. The goal was just the third conceded by Calvin in its eight MIAA contests.
- Olivet finished the game with 10 shots, including four on-frame.
- Freshman Braden Abbott tallied three shots, with two on-goal.
- Seven other players each had one shot.
- Junior Carlos Santos was in goal for all 90 minutes and collected three saves.
- Calvin recorded 19 shots but only seven were on-frame.
- Aguma Muhumza registered a team-best four shots.
- Akintade and Shaban were next with three shots.
- Daniel Wunder picked-up the win in goal. He had two saves, while playing the first 70 minutes and 43 seconds.
- Kaelen Matascatillo allowed the Comet goal and made one saves in the final 19 minutes and 17 seconds.
- Olivet now waits to see if it will make the field for the 2022 MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament. Presently, the Comets hold the sixth spot in the six-team field with six points. Alma College has four points and plays Hope College tonight at 7 p.m. If Hope wins or ties, Olivet will be the sixth seed and travel to play the third seed in the opening round Saturday. The official pairings for the tournament will be announced by the MIAA later tonight.
