OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s soccer team battled cold and blustery conditions to post a 2-0 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team battled cold and blustery conditions to post a 2-0 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- Records: Olivet 4-7-3 overall, 1-2-2 MIAA; Alma 3-9-1 overall, 1-3-1 MIAA
- Senior Noah Runnals had a couple scoring chances early in the game. His first shot attempt was saved by the keeper and a second shot sailed just wide right of the net.
- Runnals got the Comets on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute. After receiving a pass from freshman Logan Rice, he used the outside of his right foot to knock the ball into the goal at the near post.
- Olivet was able to break through with an insurance goal in the 83rd minute. Freshman Braden Abbott gathered the ball after it was deflected by a defender. He dribbled the ball down the left side of the field for 30 yards before slotting in a shot into the net at the right post.
- Olivet finished the game with a 26-8 advantage in total shots. Both teams had four corner kicks.
- Runnals tallied a game-high seven shots, followed by Abbott with six. They had four shots-on-goal apiece.
- Junior Carlos Santos earned the shutout win in goal. He made four saves.
- Christian Sweis registered three of the eight Alma shots.
- Ethan Swartzentruber was next with two shots.
- Chris Henry suffered the loss in goal, as he collected 13 saves.
- The Comets play a 7 p.m. game Saturday at Adrian College.
