Men’s soccer team shutout by Cornerstone, 6-0, in season-opener

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team was shutout by Cornerstone University, 6-0, in its season-opener this evening at the CU Soccer Stadium in Grand Rapids.

• Records: Cornerstone 2-0-1 overall, Olivet 0-1-0 overall

• The Golden Eagles built a 5-0 lead at halftime after scoring goals in the 12th, 15th, 19th, 35th and 39th minutes.
• Cornerstone capped its scoring with a goal with just over two minutes left in the game.

• Sophomore Zachary Stephan topped Olivet with four shots, including two on-goal.
• Sophomore Carter Scheel recorded two shots.
• Junior Carlos Santos was in net for the entire game and collected one save.

• Tyler Corstange and Christian Galloway each scored two goals.
• Chana Batan and Luke Stewart had one goal apiece.
• Galloway tallied four of the 10 Cornerstone shots.
• Ethan Pike played the first half in goal and had one save.
• Robert Gutierrez was in goal for the second half and made two saves.

• The Comets are off tomorrow and return to the pitch Saturday when they travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana, to play Wabash (Ind.) College. Game time is at 3 p.m.
