Rosendale’s overtime goal lifts men’s soccer team past Alma in MIAA-opener
OLIVET, Mich. – Senior Joshua Rosendale’s overtime goal helped the Olivet College men’s soccer team beat Alma College, 2-1, in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opener tonight at the Olivet Community Schools Stadium.

OLIVET, Mich. – Senior Joshua Rosendale's overtime goal helped the Olivet College men's soccer team beat Alma College, 2-1, in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opener tonight at the Olivet Community Schools Stadium.

- The Scots took a 1-0 lead in the third minute on an unassisted goal.
- Olivet tied the game in the 21st minute when freshman Christian Mendoza ripped a shot from 30 yards out into the back of the net.
- The score stayed 1-1 at halftime.
- In the second half, the Comets had a couple opportunities to score the go-ahead goal but the shots were stopped by the keeper or hit off the cross bar.
- Both teams had a shot saved by the opposing goalie in the first overtime period.
- In the fourth minute of the second overtime stanza, Rosendale rocketed a shot into the goal from 20 yards out. Senior Dominik Burmeister earned the assist on the goal.
- Olivet posted a 22-9 advantage in total shots.
- Sophomore David James led the way with six shots, including half on-frame.
- Burmeister and freshman Zachary Stephan each tallied three shots.
- Senior Andrew Aragon picked-up the win in goal. He made two saves in 90 minutes of action.
- Jack Lockerbie had three of nine Scot shots.
- Six others had one apiece.
- Chris Henry suffered the loss in goal, as he registered 10 saves.
- The Comets host Trine (Ind.) University Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
