Men’s soccer: Comets defeated by Spring Arbor, 2-1
The Olivet College men’s soccer team was defeated by Spring Arbor University 2-1 this evening at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team was defeated by Spring Arbor University 2-1 this evening at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead on a goal in the fourth minute when a shot was sent into the net at the far post. Spring Arbor added another goal in the 26th minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
The Comets found the back of the net in the fourth minute of the second half. Senior Zach Schulz knocked the ball into the six-yard box, where junior Cory Werner-Hoskins headed the ball over the keeper's head and into the goal.
Olivet had a couple opportunities to score the equalizer. Schulz had four total shots either get blocked by a defender, sail wide of the goal or saved by the keeper.
For the game, total shots were nearly equal, with the Cougars holding a slight 19-16 advantage. Schulz led the way with six shots, followed by senior Camden Iwasko with four. Junior Ryan Grashik played all 90 minutes in goal and made eight saves.
The Comets (0-2) are now idle until Friday, Sept. 12, when they make a trip to Illinois to play North Park University at 7 p.m. CT.
