Men’s soccer team comes up short at Alma, 3-2
The Olivet College men’s soccer team let a 2-1 halftime lead slip away in a 3-2 loss to Alma College today at Scotland Yard in Alma.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team let a 2-1 halftime lead slip away in a 3-2 loss to Alma College today at Scotland Yard in Alma.
Alma took an early 1-0 lead behind a goal at the 4:05 mark. The Comets answered with two goals in a span of three minutes and 11 seconds to take a 2-1 lead. Junior Jon Puente scored the first goal on a header after receiving a pass from senior Adam Wright. The second goal was by senior Connor Plagens, with assists from Puente and freshman Michael Brait.
Olivet continued to hold onto that lead at halftime. The Scots tied the game in the 65th minute and scored what proved to be the game-winner less than two minutes later.
The game was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Comets dominated the statistics with a 12- advantage in total shots. The second half belonged to the Scots, who outshot Olivet 10-4. Puente and Wright led the charge for the Comets with five shots apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Grashik made three saves in 90 minutes.
Olivet is back in action next Tuesday, Oct. 1, when it hosts Calvin College at 4 p.m.
