Men's soccer team opens 2013 season with 2-1 win over Madonna
The Olivet College men’s soccer team gave Dan Bulley a win in his head coaching debut, as the Comets defeated Madonna University, 2-1, today in a non-conference game at Mackenzie Field in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team gave Dan Bulley a win in his head coaching debut, as the Comets defeated Madonna University, 2-1, today in a non-conference game at Mackenzie Field in Kalamazoo.
The Comets led 1-0 at halftime after sophomore Michael Moscone (Washington Twp./Warren De La Salle) sent a free kick from 45 yards out into the net in the 28th minute. Madonna tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the seventh minute of the second half.
Olivet answered eight minutes later on a goal by junior John Leutzinger (Washington/Warren De La Salle). Freshmen Dominic Mastromatteo (Grand Blanc) and Michael Brait (Lakeshore, Ontario/International) were each credited with an assist on the goal.
The Comets were held to nine shots in the game, placing four on-goal. Leutzinger and Moscone each took two shots. Junior Alex Lang (Northville/Detroit Catholic Central) played all 90 minutes in goal. He faced 18 total shots, while making four saves.
"I am very proud of our guys on their effort tonight in creating fine chances on the offensive end," said Bulley. "We worked very hard throughout the game and got rewarded with a win. We now focus our attention to a very good team tomorrow."
Olivet (1-0) returns to the field tomorrow against Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.). The game will also be played at Mackenzie Field in Kalamazoo, starting at 3 p.m.
