The Olivet College men's soccer team defeated Anderson (Ind.) University Saturday afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
Junior Mike May (Mason) scored the Comets' goal in the 33rd minute. Freshman Bung Jin Lee (Kentwood/East Kentwood) slotted a pass inside the box to May, who hammered his shot into the goal.
"It was extremely pleasant to see Mike find the back of the net," said Head Coach Chad Wiseman. "He has been close this year. Overall, the goal was a very well executed set piece."
Olivet had 23 shots in the game, including nine for May. Junior Ethan Felsing (Mason) recorded the shutout in goal, while making six saves.
"We came out of the gate with a lot of energy," Wiseman said. "We were very organized and had some success keeping the ball early, which was nice to see. I thought Anderson came out with more energy in the second half and controlled play for the first 15 minutes. We did a great job bending but not breaking."
The Comets will host University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in a second round game of the Alma/Olivet Soccer Classic tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
