Freshman Dalton Guggemos (Laingsburg) scored the only goal, as the Olivet College men's soccer team closed the first half of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule with a 1-0 victory against Alma College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
Guggemos scored the goal with just 4:23 left before halftime. On the goal, freshman Kyle Ellingham (Richmond/Armada) passed the ball from the middle of the field down to senior Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey). Evans sent the ball towards the near post where Guggemos re-directed the ball to the right corner of the goal. The score stayed 1-0 at the break.
Midway through the second half, Olivet was whistled for a hand ball inside the box, giving Alma's Andrew Waligorski a chance to tie the game with a penalty kick. His shot was saved by Comet keeper Ethan Felsing (Mason).
