The Olivet College men’s soccer team defeated non-conference foe Finlandia University, 7-1, this afternoon at the Olivet High School Soccer Field.

The Olivet College men's soccer team defeated non-conference foe Finlandia University, 7-1, this afternoon at the Olivet High School Soccer Field.
The Comets had three goalkeepers and 14 field players see action in the game. Senior Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) scored two goals, including one just 1:36 into the game. Sophomore Mike May (Mason) also had two goals along with an assist. Freshmen Chase Anthes (Ludington), David Kidder (Bellevue) and Nick Smith (Bellevue) each tallied a goal. Freshman Scott Burkett (Hudsonville) finished with two assists and sophomore Robert Ching (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie) had one assist.
For the game, Olivet had a 57-5 edge in shots, including 23-2 domination in shots-on-goal. Anthes led the way with 10 shots, followed by Lockwood with eight and Ching with seven. Sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) played at the beginning of each half in goal, logging 40:51 total time in goal. Burkett spent 12:17 in goal. Freshman Coby Heller (Bellevue) had the other 36:52 in goal and allowed the one Finlandia goal.
The Comets are back in action this Saturday when they travel to play Manchester (Ind.) College at 2 p.m.
