The Olivet College men's soccer team came up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College, 2-1, today in Olivet.
The Hornets (5-2, 2-0 MIAA) took a 2-0 lead in a span of just under 10 minutes in the second half. Rob Linden scored a goal at the 57th minute, and Justin Evans tallied a goal in the 67th minute. The Comets (3-5, 1-1 MIAA) got on the scoreboard with 15 minutes left in the game. On a corner kick, freshman Robert Ching (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie) settled the ball down, and tapped it to the feet of senior defender Ryan Scott (Williamston). Scott then sent a hard shot into the back cover of the goal for his second collegiate goal.
Olivet dominated the game with a 24-15 edge in shots. Freshman forward Mike May (Mason) recorded a team-high six shots, while junior Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey) took five shots. In goal, sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) had seven saves off 15 Kalamazoo shots.
The Comets are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 25, when they host Calvin College at 4 p.m.
