Three soccer players named to 2007 Academic All-District IV first-team
Three Olivet College soccer players – Shannah Fisher (Delton/Delton-Kellogg), Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa) and Andrew Lansang (Rock Springs, Wyo.) – have been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Three Olivet College soccer players – Shannah Fisher (Delton/Delton-Kellogg), Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa) and Andrew Lansang (Rock Springs, Wyo.) – have been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team. All three student-athletes advance to the national college division Academic All-America® ballot.
Fisher, who has a 3.97 grade point average (GPA), is a double major in math and chemistry for secondary education. She led the Comets in scoring with 10 points (five goals) and 52 shots, including 22 on-goal. During her four-year career at Olivet, she scored 25 goals and recorded eight assists for 58 points. Fisher also scored seven game-winning goals. Off the soccer field, she is a member of Tri-Pi and is a writing tutor. She was a 2006 CoSIDA second-team Academic All-Disitrct IV selection.
Lopez, who carries a 3.96 GPA in intergrated science, finished the 2007 season with four points (one goal and two assists), while playing in all 18 games. She ended an outstanding four-year career at Olivet, playing in every possible game (74) and scoring 20 points (six goals and eight assists). Off the field, Lopez is a member of Tri-Pi and serves as a resident assistant.
Lansang, who has a perfect 4.0 GPA in insurance, has seen action in all 19 games, including 17 starts, for Olivet this year. He has tallied two assists. In his four years at Olivet, Lansang has two goals and five assists for nine points. Off the soccer field, he is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma, serving as the vice president of portfolio for the last two years. Lansang has also earned the Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. The members of the All-District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.
