VanWagner’s hat trick leads men’s soccer to 3-1 win at Adrian
Freshman Josh VanWagner (Jackson/Lumen Christi) recorded a hat trick to lead the Olivet College men’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Adrian College tonight at Performance Stadium in Adrian.

VanWagner scored his first goal with 28 seconds left before halftime. He added his second goal 3:05 into the second half. Junior Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey) was credited with an assist on the goal. VanWagner tallied his third goal when he converted on a penalty kick in the 64th minute. The Bulldogs (2-10-2, 2-5-2 MIAA) scored their goal with 4:12 left in the game.
Olivet (4-10, 4-5 MIAA) had a 15-7 advantage in shots, including an 11-5 edge in shots on-goal. VanWagner led the way with seven shots, followed by sophomore Brian Knechtges (Williamston) with three. In goal, junior Michael Manning (Charlotte) made four saves.
The Comets travel to play Hope Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m.
