Men's soccer team falls to Hope, 3-2, in double overtime
The Olivet College men’s soccer team dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Hope College this afternoon in Olivet.

The Olivet College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Hope College this afternoon in Olivet.
The Flying Dutchmen (7-2, 3-0 MIAA) led 1-0 at halftime and stretched their lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute. The Comets (3-7, 2-2 MIAA) got on the scoreboard in the 74th minute when freshman Mike Smith (Okemos) scored off a pass from sophomore Alan Holdorf (Novi). Junior Corey Evans (Mason) deflected a free kick by freshman Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) into the back of the goal at the 87:41 mark. Hope tallied the game-winning goal just 54 seconds into the second overtime session.
For the game, the Dutchmen had a 23-13 edge in shots. Senior Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc) led Olivet with five shots. Freshman Justin Loveless (Mason) was next with four. In goal, senior Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids) played the entire game and made seven saves.
Olivet is next in action Wednesday, Oct. 5, when it plays at Calvin College at 4 p.m.
