The Olivet College men's soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over non-conference foe Manchester (Ind.) College this afternoon in Olivet.
The Comets (1-5) scored their first goal in the 17th minute when senior Rudy Pulido (Holt) tapped the ball into the goal off a cross pass by sophomore Alan Holdorf (Novi). Holdorf scored a goal in the 33rd minute and junior Corey Evans (Mason) was credited with an assist on the play. The score remained 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, Evans blasted a free kick from 40 yards out into the goal.
In the game, Olivet had a 22-17 advantage over the Spartans (1-4-2) in shots. Evans led the way with six shots, followed by freshman Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) with five and Evans with three. Senior Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids) played all 90 minutes in goal while making 10 saves.
Olivet is next in action Wednesday, Sept. 21, when it opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Adrian College. Game time is 4 p.m.
