Men’s soccer team loses 5-1 to national power Ohio Wesleyan University
The Olivet College men’s soccer team was defeated by national powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), 5-1, tonight at the OWU adidas® Invitational. The Battling Bishops entered the game ranked 10th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

The Olivet College men's soccer team was defeated by national powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), 5-1, tonight at the OWU adidas® Invitational. The Battling Bishops entered the game ranked 10th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. For their efforts in the invitational, freshman Kevin Hagan (East Lansing) and senior Gabe Pringle (Grand Blanc) were named to the all-tournament team.
Olivet (0-4) scored first with 14 minutes left before halftime. Sophomore Alan Holdorf (Novi) deposited the ball into the net. Sophomore Andrew Lansang (Rock Springs, Wyo.) and freshman Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) was credited an assist on the goal. OWU tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 41st minute. The Bishops scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the sixth minute of the second half.
The Comets tallied 11 shots in the game with Pringle collecting a team-high seven shot. Four of his shots were on-goal. Senior Will Drogt (Kewadin/Elk Rapids) started the game in goal, played the first 55:04 and made one save. Sophomore Michael Manning (Charlotte) made three saves in the final 34:56 in goal.
Olivet is next in action Wednesday, Sept. 14, when it travels to play Saginaw Valley State University at 6 p.m.
