Olivet College men’s lacrosse team ranked among NCAA leaders
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its final statistical leaders for the 2016 season, and Olivet College can be found in those lists.
OLIVET, Mich. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its final statistical leaders for the 2016 season. Olivet College ranked second among 223 NCAA Division III men's lacrosse programs in man-down defense. In addition, the Comets were ranked in top 50 in shot percentage (12th, .341); scoring offense (42nd, 12.38 points per game), goalkeeper saves (46th, 13.19 per game); and assists (48th, 121).
Olivet's .871 man-down percentage was only .006 behind national leader Rhodes (Tenn.) College. As a team, the Comets allowed only 11 extra-man goals this season. The Comets did not give up an extra-man goal in eight of their 16 games this season and limited five opponents to just a single extra-man tally. Only Albion, Capital (Ohio) and Oberlin (Ohio) managed to score more than once with the man advantage. All three scored two.
Individually, senior Dakota Badder tied for fourth among all NCAA Division III players with 12 man-up goals. Three players shared the national lead with 14 apiece. Junior Nino Minaudo was 15th nationally in scoring at 4.81 points per game, and 23rd with 2.19 assists per game. Senior Ryan McGee was 44th in saves per game at 12.44.
