WOOSTER, Ohio – The Olivet College men's golf team is in ninth-place (of 12 schools) at the Nye Intercollegiate, which is being played at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio.
The Comets posted a 347 team score to sit one stroke ahead of 10th-place Albion College and two ahead of 11th-place Wabash (Ind.) College. Allegheny (Pa.) College leads the field with a 308, followed by Denison (Ohio), 312; Mount St. Joseph (Ohio), 317; Wooster, 323; John Carroll (Ohio), 324; Baldwin Wallace (Ohio), 335; Mount Union (Ohio), 336; Ohio Northern, 337.
Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) carded a 77 to share sixth-place in the player standings with three other golfers. Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) had an 88, and freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Twp./South Lyon) is one stroke behind at 89. Junior Jake Maas (Olivet) completed his round in 93 strokes. Freshman Zachary Gray (Utica/East Detroit) rounded out Olivet's lineup with a 97.
The second and final round will be played tomorrow.
