GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's golf team sits in eighth-place (of nine schools) at the Ted Barclay Spring Invitational, hosted by Denison (Ohio) University and played at the Granville Golf Course in Granville, Ohio.
The Comets carded a 321 team score and are 12 strokes ahead of ninth-place Hiram (Ohio) College entering tomorrow's second round, which will get started at 9 a.m. Wittenberg (Ohio) University leads the host Big Red by six strokes, 295-301. Eleven strokes separate the rest of the top seven, DePauw (Ind.) University, 302; Kenyon (Ohio) College, 304; Ohio Wesleyan University, 308; Thomas More (Ky.) College, 310; and College of Wooster (Ohio), 313.
Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) is tied for 18th in the player standings with a 76. Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) is two strokes behind at 78. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Twp./South Lyon) posted an 82, followed by freshmen Joseph Gauck (Belding/Lowell) and Jacob VanDeusen (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) at 85 and 101, respectively.
Following tomorrow's round, Olivet will play their final two-round, 36-hole tournament next Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, at the Nye Intercollegiate, hosted by Wooster.
