Men’s golf team scores 319 at second straight jamboree
The Olivet College men’s golf team posted a 319 team score at it second straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree, which placed them in eighth. Today’s round was played at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team posted a 319 team score at it second straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree, which placed them in eighth. Today's round was played at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
The Comets' 319 score was three strokes behind host Alma College. Calvin and Hope shared first-place with 300s. Kalamazoo was third at 305, followed by Adrian, 307; Albion, 309; and Trine, 311.
Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) tied for fourth-place in the player standings with a career-best 73. Freshman Daniel Buehler (Delton/Hastings) finished with an 80. Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) was a stroke behind with an 81. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Township/South Lyon East) carded an 85, while senior Chris Watkins (Bangor) needed 89 strokes to complete his round.
At the halfway point of the MIAA schedule, Olivet sits in seventh-place in the standings with a four-round total of 1,281 strokes. Hope has taken a five-stroke lead over Calvin for first, 1,226-1,231. Adrian is not too far behind in third at 1,238, followed by Trine, 1,250; Kalamazoo, 1,255; and Albion, 1,276. Alma is eighth at 1,283.
The fifth MIAA Jamboree will take place Monday afternoon at the Kalamazoo Country Club, starting at 1 p.m.
