Men’s golfers place seventh at MIAA Jamboree #4
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed seventh at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #4 today at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
WEST OLIVE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed seventh at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #4 today at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
The Comets carded a 331 team score, which was seven strokes behind sixth-place Trine (Ind.) University and eight strokes behind fifth-place Adrian College. The top four teams were Calvin 304, Alma 315, Hope 320 and Adrian 321. Calvin's Dave Sarkipato was the medalist with a 75.
Junior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) paced Olivet, as he was part of a tie for fourth-place in the individual player standings with a 76, including a jamboree best 35 on the back nine. Senior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) was next at 82 (39-43). One stroke separated senior Cody Crites (Owosso) and freshman Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) with an 86 (46-40) and 87 (43-44), respectively. Junior Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio) had 48s on the front and back nines for a 96.
Calvin maintains first in the overall MIAA seasonal standings with a four-round total of 1,213 strokes. Trine is second at 1,235. Hope is third at 1,242, followed by Adrian 1,248; Alma 1,255; Albion 1,258; Olivet 1,270; and Kalamazoo 1,305.
The Comets will travel to Angola, Ind., to participate in a rescheduled MIAA Jamboree Thursday at Trine's Zollner Golf Course. The jamboree was postponed last Saturday, Sept. 22 due to a thunderstorm.
