Men’s golf team finishes in fourth-place in MIAA Playoff
With a fourth-place finish in the final playoff round, the Olivet College men’s golf team also finished in fourth-place in the final team standings for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff. Today’s round was played at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
WEST OLIVE, Mich. – With a fourth-place finish in the final playoff round, the Olivet College men's golf team also finished in fourth-place in the final team standings for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff. In today's third playoff round, Trine (Ind.) University shot a 305 team score and nearly overcame a 25-stroke deficit to beat Hope College for the league's automatic bid to the 2012 Division III National Championships. Alma was third at 312, while Hope was third, 325; and Olivet was fourth, 328. In the final overall standings Hope beat Trine by five strokes, 899-904. Alma was third at 913, and the Comets were fourth at 956.
Junior Nick Julian (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) carded a 78 to lead Olivet. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) had an 81. Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) was two strokes behind with an 83. Junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) had 43s on the front and back nines for an 86. Sophomore Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio) rounded out the Comets' lineup with an 88.
OIivet will conclude its spring schedule next Saturday, April 28, at the Bill Gettig Invitational, hosted by Trine and on the Zollner Golf Course in Angola.
