Men’s golf team finishes in second-place at final jamboree
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in second-place at the final MIAA jamboree today at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. With the finish, the Comets place fourth in the final MIAA standings.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in second-place at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree today at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. With the finish, the Comets place fourth in the final MIAA standings.
Hope wins the 2011 MIAA championship with an eight-round total of 2,443 strokes, followed by Trine at 2,462 strokes. Only three strokes separated third through fifth-place with Alma finishing third at 2,471; Olivet in fourth, 2,472; and Adrian, 2,474. Calvin was sixth at 2,498, followed by Albion 2,522; and Kalamazoo 2,668.
For today, Olivet posted a season-best 297 team score, which was just two strokes behind Trine (Ind.) University. Hope was third at 299, followed by Adrian 302, Calvin 305, Albion 307, Alma 307 and Kalamazoo 314.
Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) and senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) shared sixth-place with 73s. Julian shot a 35 on the front nine, and a 38 on the back nine. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) carded a 75, followed by junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) with a 76. Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) completed the Comets' lineup with a 78.
