Men’s golf team ties for third at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College men’s golf team tied for third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 today at the Pine River Country Club.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team tied for third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 today at the Pine River Country Club.
Alma used its home course to a big advantage, as the Scots carded a 289 team score to beat second-place Adrian by 12 strokes, 289-301. The Comets tied Trine for third with 304s. Calvin and Hope were both one shot behind Olivet with 305s. Kalamazoo was seventh at 324 and Albion was eighth at 328.
Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) paced the Comets with a one-over 73. Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) were separated by just one stroke with a 75 and 76, respectively. Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) and junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) each shot an 80.
After two league jamborees, Alma leads the seasonal standings at 616 total strokes. Trine is second at 625, followed by Adrian, 629; Olivet, 633; Hope, 635; Calvin, 640; Albion, 658; and Kalamazoo, 703.
The Comets will host the third MIAA Jamboree next Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. The outing has a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
