The men’s golf team finished in third-place at the 2011 Trine University/A.C. Eddy Invitational at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in third-place at the 2011 Trine University/A.C. Eddy Invitational at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The Comets posted a 307 team score. Davenport University captured the team title with a 290, followed by the host Thunder with a 302.
Senior Cameron LaFountain (Battle Creek/Marshall) and sophomore Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) each shot a 74 to lead Olivet. LaFountain had a 38 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine, while Fesko finished with a 35 and 39 on the front and back nine, respectively.
Freshman Tyler Swinehart (Plainwell) carded a 77, including a 36 on the front nine. Freshman Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen) recorded 41s on the front and back nine for an 82. Freshman Kevin Fields (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) rounded out the Comets' lineup with a 90.
Olivet will now participate in the Ohio Wesleyan University Strimer Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17. Saturday's round will be played at the Glenross Golf Club, and Sunday's at Oakhaven Golf Club. Both courses are in Delaware, Ohio, a northern suburb of Columbus.
