Men’s golf team places fifth in overall MIAA standings
The men’s golf team finished in third-place at the final MIAA jamboree today at the Pine River Country Club. With the finish, the Comets place fifth in the final league seasonal standings.
ALMA, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's golf team finished in third-place at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree today at the Pine River Country Club in Alma. With the finish, the Comets place fifth in the final league seasonal standings. Sophomore Justin Ardelean (Owosso) and freshman Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) have earned second-team All-MIAA honors.
In today's round, Olivet recorded a 309 team score. Calvin took first-place with a 296, and was second Hope at 303. Adrian placed fourth at 310, followed by Kalamazoo 316, Trine 317, Albion 319 and Alma 319.
Julian led the Comets with a 75. Playing their final collegiate MIAA rounds, seniors Nick Harless (DeWitt) and Cam LaFountain (Marshall) had a 76 and 78, respectively. Ardelean was next with an 80. Junior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) rounded out Olivet's lineup with an 85.
With its first-place finish, Calvin overcame a 19-stroke deficit to win its first MIAA men's golf championship by two strokes over Trine, 2,411-2,413. Hope was a close third at 2,420, followed by Adrian 2,432; Olivet 2,448; Albion 2,472; Alma 2,547; and Kalamazoo 2,602.
