The Comets posted a 297 team score. Indiana Wesleyan University leads the 16-team field with a 291. Madonna University is second at 294. The rest of the top 10 is Wheaton (Ill.) College, 301; Albion College, 302; Calvin College, 304; Adrian College, 304; Hope College, 305; Owens (Ohio) Community College, 307; and Spring Arbor University, 309.
Leading the way for Olivet was senior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary), who shot an even par 71 and sits in a tie for third in the player standings. His round consisted of five birdies, 11 pars, one double bogey and one triple bogey. Sophomore Grant Spencer (Olivet) finished with a one-over par 72. He also had five birdies. Junior Cameron LaFountain (Marshall) completed his round in 75 strokes. Freshman Tyler Parkin (Alanson/Harbor Springs) and junior Nick Harless (DeWitt) recorded a 79 and 83, respectively.
Following tomorrow's round, the Comets will begin defense of their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship next Tuesday, Sept. 8. They will return to Bedford Valley for the first of eight league jamborees.
