Men’s golf team wins team title at OWU/Lamkin Strimer Memorial Invitational
Senior Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) shared medalist honors with a one-over par 142 to help the Olivet College men’s golf team win the team title (out of 14 schools) at the Ohio Wesleyan University/Lamkin Strimer Memorial Invitational.
Senior Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) shared medalist honors with a one-over par 142 to help the Olivet College men's golf team win the team title (out of 14 schools) at the Ohio Wesleyan University/Lamkin Strimer Memorial Invitational. After Friday's first round at the Glenross Golf Club, the Comets trailed the host Bishops by two strokes. In today's second round at the Oakhaven Golf Club, Olivet beat OWU by 10 strokes to capture the team title, 600-608.
Following the Comets and Bishops were Mount Union (Ohio) College in third, 615; Hope College in fourth, 618; Otterbein (Ohio) College in fifth, 619; and Wittenberg (Ohio) University in sixth, 623.
Ross tied for Mount Union's Lucas Murrary for medalist honors. Murray was one shot better than Ross in Friday's round, while Ross was one shot better than Murray in today's round. Senior Justin Lesansky (LaSalle, Ontario/International) finished fifth in the player standings with a 149 (72-77). Junior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary) completed his two rounds in 155 (79-76) strokes. Senior Brock Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario/St. Michaels Catholic) and sophomore Nick Harless (DeWitt) both had a 157.
Olivet will return to action Thursday, April 23, when it participates in the Spring University Invitational.
