Men’s golf team captures team title at Davenport Panther Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team captured the team title at the Danvenport University Panther Invitational, which was played at the Thornapple Pointe Golf Club in Grand Rapids. The 54-hole tournament consisted of two rounds yesterday and a third round today.

The Comets finished with a total of 934 strokes and beat Davenport by 24 strokes. Leading the way for Olivet was the trio of sophomore Joe Kiss (East Leroy/Harper Creek), freshman Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) and senior Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario/McKinnon Park). All three earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
Ward had a three round score of 230 strokes, followed by Ross at 231 and Kiss at 234. Senior Steve Ross (Rockford) was fourth on the team with a 240, and freshman Robbe Trout (Charlotte) was three strokes behind at 243.
Olivet is idle until Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23, when it travels to Delaware, Ohio, to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan University Strimer Invitational. Saturday's round will be played at the Dornoch Golf Club, and Sunday's round will be played at the Oakhaven Golf Club.
