Men's golf team captures MIAA Jamboree #8 team title
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in first-place this afternoon at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #8 at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
Comets finish third in final MIAA standings
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in first-place this afternoon at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #8 at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
In the overall MIAA standings, the Fighting Comets finish in third-place with 2,428 strokes. Hope College came from behind to capture the 2004 MIAA Championship with 2,417 strokes. Tri-State (Ind.) University was third with 2,419 strokes.
Individually, junior Steve Ross (Rockford) was second in the final seasonal standings with a 74.7 stroke average to earn first-team All-MIAA honors. Senior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) had a 75.0 average to earn first-team All-MIAA honors for the third straight year. Freshman Joe Kiss (East Leroy/Harper Creek) had a 77.0 average and earned second-team All-MIAA honors.
Today, the Comets tallied a team score of 301 strokes to finish ahead of Hope, who had a 307. Dinner earned medalist honors with a 71. Senior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) was next with a 75. Ross fired a 76, Kiss had a 79 and junior Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario) rounded out the Olivet starting five with an 82.
