Men’s golf team finishes in third-place at 2004 Comet Classic
The Olivet College (OC) men's golf team finished in third-place (out of 21 teams) today at the 2004 OC Comet Classic at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. The OC second-team placed 12th, and the OC third-team was 18th.

The first-team players had a team score of 297 strokes today for a two round total of 605 strokes. Franklin (Ind.) College won the team championship with a 593, followed by Indiana Wesleyan University with a 601. Senior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) tied Tim Fish from Franklin and Mark Heible from Davenport University for medalist honors with a 144 (72-72).
Senior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) was fourth overall with a 145, including a 69 in today's round. Following Dinner was sophomore Dan Wiers (Byron Center/South Christian) with a 156, senior Jeff Jardine (Collingwood, Ontario/Collingwood Collegiate) with a 162 and freshman Christian Rowe (Midland Dow) with a 166.
The Comet second-team was led by junior Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario) with a 145. He had a tournament low round of 68 strokes on Friday.
Olivet opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play at the first MIAA Jamboree on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at The Medalist Golf Club. Albion College will serve as the host.
