Men's golfers finish in third place at MIAA Jamboree #4
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in third-place today at the fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree at the Lake Doster Golf Club in Kalamazoo.
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in third-place today at the fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree at the Lake Doster Golf Club in Kalamazoo.
The Fighting Comets carded a team score of 320 strokes, just one stroke behind second-place Calvin College. Hope College won the jamboree with a score of 303 strokes. After four MIAA jamborees, Hope is first with a 305.3 stroke average and Olivet is second with a 309.7 average.
Individually, juniors Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) and Stew Halstead (Kelowna, Ontario/Mount Boucherie) each shot a 78 today to lead the Comets. Dinner continues to lead the league medalist honors with a 75.0 stroke average.
Following Dinner and Halstead were sophomore Steve Ross (Rockford) with an 81, sophomore Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario) with an 83 and freshman Dan Wiers (Byron Center/Grand Rapids South Christian) with an 88.
Olivet is next in action on Monday, Sept. 29 when it participates in the fifth MIAA Jamboree at the Clearbrook Golf Club in Saugatuck, which was rescheduled after Monday's thunderstorm.
