Men's golfers tie for second-place at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in a tie for second-place today at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. The Fighting Comets were the host school.
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in a tie for second-place today at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. The Fighting Comets were the host school.
Olivet tied Calvin College with a team score of 310 strokes. Hope College won with a score of 309 strokes. After two MIAA jamborees, the Comets and Hope are tied for first-place in the team standings with a 307.5 team stroke average.
Leading the way for the Comets was freshman Dan Wiers (Byron Center/Grand Rapids South Christian), who earned medalist honors with a three-over par 74. Junior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) was second overall with a score of 75 strokes. Senior Ryan Spencer (Chatham, Ontario/Chatham-Kent) carded an 80, junior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) had an 81 and sophomore Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario) rounded out the team with an 84.
Olivet will play in the third MIAA Jamboree on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
