Men's golf team ties for fourth-place at Denison (Ohio) Invitational
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth-place (out of 16 teams) at the 2004 Ted Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison (Ohio) University. The invitational was played at the Granville Golf Course.
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth-place (out of 16 teams) at the 2004 Ted Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison (Ohio) University. The invitational was played at the Granville Golf Course.
The Fighting Comets tallied a team score of 311 strokes for a two-day score of 614 to tie the DePauw (Ind.) University. Ohio Wesleyan University won the team championship with a two-day score of 600 strokes. Denison was second with 608 and College of Wooster (Ohio) was third with a 613.
Individually, junior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St, Ignatius of Loyola) led the Comets with a two-day score of 147 strokes. After shooting a 74 in Friday's first round, he fired a 73 today to place third. Chad Poling from Ohio Wesleyan earned medalist honors with a 145.
Following Dinner were junior junior Jonathan Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) with a 75-77=152, junior Stew Halstead (Kelowna, British Columbia/Mount Boucherie) with a 76-83=159, junior Andrew Wismer (Thornhill, Ontario/Thornhill Secondary) with a 78-82=160 and junior Jeff Jardine (Collingwood, Ontario (Collingwood Collegiate) with an 83-79=162. (round 1 score-round 2 score=total strokes)
Olivet will next compete in the Tri-State University Invitational on Wednesday, April 14, at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
