Men’s Golf Team Ties for Third Place at the Otterbein College Groseclose Memorial Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team tied for third place out of six teams today at the Otterbein College Groseclose Memorial Invitational at The Medallion Club. The invitational consisted of two rounds of 18 holes.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Olivet College men's golf team tied for third place out of six teams today at the Otterbein College Groseclose Memorial Invitational at The Medallion Club. The invitational consisted of two rounds of 18 holes. The Fighting Comets carded a two-round score of 626 strokes with identical rounds of 313 strokes. The host Cardinals won the team title with 593 strokes.
Senior Rick Gibbons (Rockford) had rounds of 78 and 75 for a score of 153 strokes. He was followed by freshman Mike Ward (Caledonia) at 156, junior Michael Dinner (Calgary, Alberta) at 158, senior Scott Miller (Barrie, Ontario) at 164 and sophomore Jonathon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario) at 165. Miller shot a team-low first round of 76 strokes.
As an individual, freshman Stevie Ross (Rockford) had a 175.
The Fighting Comets now must wait to see if they will receive one of the region's at-large berths into the NCAA Division III National Championships on May 12-15.
