Kretschman and Schipper lead UOlivet in 69-56 win at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – Freshman Porter Kretschman and sophomore Conner Schipper each had a double-double to lead The University of Olivet men's basketball to a 69-56 win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College tonight at Art Smith Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets made the first basket before the Scots answered with a three-pointer at the other end of the court. Schipper scored the next four points for Olivet. The Comets stretched their lead to as many as six points, 18-12. Alma responded with a 9-0 spurt to take a 21-18 lead with 6:09 left until halftime. Olivet outscored the Scots, 13-2 over the next seven minutes to take its largest lead of the half, 31-23. Alma drained a three-pointer before a Schipper jump shot made the score 33-26 at halftime.
- In the second half, the Comets stretched their advantage to 19 points on two occasions. Following the second time, 54-35, at the 6:03 mark, the Scots used a 15-6 burst to trim their deficit down to 10 points (60-50) with 2:20 remaining in the game. Olivet quickly went on a 6-0 run to push its lead back to 16 points.
- For the game, the Comets had a 38-18 edge in points in the paint. Olivet posted a higher field goal percentage, 46.2 (24-52) to 30.6 (19-of-62). The Comets also won the rebounding battle, 43 to 35.
FOR THE COMETS
- Schipper scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his double-double.
- Kretschman nearly recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists. He also had five steals.
- Sophomore Brayden Wine came off the bench to score eight points.
