UOlivet comes up short at Calvin, 86-55

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's basketball lost 86-55 to Calvin University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at Van Noord Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets made five of their first six baskets to take a 12-4 lead. Olivet then stretched its lead to as many as 11 points, 26-15, at the 9:11 mark. The Knights answered with a layup and back-to-back three-pointers over the next 89 seconds to trim their deficit down to three points at the under 8-minute media timeout.
- A free throw and two layups gave the lead to Calvin, 28-26. A Comet jump shot evened the score. The Knights scored the final 13 points of the half to take a 41-28 lead into the locker rooms.
- Calvin's scoring run continued into the start of the second half, as the Knights drained two shots from behind the arc and layup to make the score 49-28. Olivet's long scoring drought ended on senior Mason Wichman's jump shot with 16:38 left in the game. The Comets were not able to get any closer for the remainder of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Porter Kretschman posted a team-best 13 points and four assists.
- Wichman scored a season-high 11 points.
- Sophomore Nathan Richardson contributed 10 points, three assists and three steals.
- Sophomore Conner Schipper grabbed seven rebounds.
