Olivet suffers 76-57 loss to Ohio Northern

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team lost 76-57 to Ohio Northern University tonight in a non-conference contest inside the Cutler Event Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Polar Bears took a six-point lead, 14-8, at the 13:44 mark of the first half. The Comets came back and took a one-point lead, 29-28, after sophomore Nathan Richardson made a free throw to complete a three-point play with 4:08 left. Following two more tied scores at 29-29 and 32-32, Olivet seized a two-point lead after sophomore Lee Hardy made a driving layup. Ohio Northern scored the final two baskets of the half for a 36-34 lead at the break. In the first half, there were 10 lead changes and six ties.
- The Polar Bears opened the second half with a 12-3 run, extending their lead to double digits for the first time. Olivet fought back to close the gap to seven points, 59-52, at the 8:38 mark. Ohio Northern ended the game on a 17-5 spurt.
- The Comets finished the game with a 43.5 field goal percentage (20-of-46) compared to 44.6 percent (29-of-65) for the Polar Bears. Olivet made 14-of-16 free throws and Ohio Northern was 8-of-9. The Polar Bears drained seven more three-pointers (10 to 3) and committed six less turnovers (18 to 24).
FOR THE COMETS
- Richardson led Olivet with 18 points.
- Freshman Porter Kretschman added 12 points.
- Sophomore Conner Schipper scored eight points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists.
