Men’s Basketball: Olivet suffers 67-58 loss to Wisconsin-Superior

DE PERE, Wis. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team was on the losing end of a 67-58 final to University of Wisconsin-Superior tonight in the consolation game of the St. Norbert College Nicolet National Bank Tournament at the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

- Olivet got off to a fast start by scoring the first five points of the game. The YellowJackets responded by taking a 15-point lead, 31-16, at the 5:58 mark of the opening half. The Comets chipped away at their deficit and trailed by nine points, 33-24, with 2:33 left until halftime. The teams traded points for the rest of the half to create a 38-29 score at the break.
- Olivet started the second half off strong and made it a one-point game, 47-46, with 12:26 remaining in the contest. After three more one-point differentials, UW-Superior scored five straight points to go up by six, 58-52. The Yellow ackets maintained at least a two-possession advantage for the rest of the game.
- Freshman Conner Schipper posted his second straight double-double with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds. He also contributed three blocks.
- Freshmen Aden Hathaway and Nathan Richardson each scored 10 points.
- Hathaway also had three of Olivet's 17 assists. Six other players tallied two assists apiece.
- "I am very proud of our fight tonight," said Olivet head coach Sam Hargraves. "We are getting closer to learning how to compete for 40 minutes."
- The Comets start Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Thursday, January 4, 2024, when they host Hope College. Tip-off from the Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
