Men’s basketball team upended at Hope, 87-69

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Hope College, 87-69, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) game today at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

- The Flying Dutchmen jumped out to a 9-0 lead. Hope expanded its advantage to 23 points, 46-23, at the 4:30 mark of the opening half. The Comets cut their deficit to 19 points, 52-33, at halftime. The closest Olivet would get in the second half was 14 points, 54-40.
- For the game, the Flying Dutchmen were 35-of-68 (51.5 percent) compared to 25-of-68 (36.8 percent) for the Comets. Hope made one more three-point basket, but Olivet had an 11 to 8 edge in free throws. The Flying Dutchmen were +11 in rebounding, 46 to 35.
- Senior Ryan Robinette scored a team-high 14 points.
- Sophomore Nolan Finkbeiner and freshman Haidyn Garrison each had 11 points.
- Garrison, and seniors Tevin Ali and Derrick Johnson grabbed five rebounds apiece.
- Gabe Quinlan topped all players with 28 points and 16 rebounds.
- Marcus Wourman was next with 14 points, followed by Clayton Dykhouse with 13.
- Olivet plays its final two regular season games next week. On Wednesday, the Comets host Albion College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday afternoon, they are on the road to play Alma College at 3 p.m.
