Johnson breaks career three-point records, men’s basketball team posts 92-82 road win at Adrian
ADRIAN, Mich. – Senior Derrick Johnson became the career leader in three-pointers attempted and made, as the Olivet College men's basketball team beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Adrian College, 92-82, this evening at the Merillat Center. With the win, the Comets complete the season sweep against the Bulldogs.

ADRIAN, Mich. – Senior Derrick Johnson became the career leader in three-pointers attempted and made, as the Olivet College men's basketball team beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Adrian College, 92-82, this evening at the Merillat Center. With the win, the Comets complete the season sweep against the Bulldogs.

- The Comets quickly built an 8-point lead, 12-4, after Johnson made a three-pointer at the 15:17 mark. The Bulldogs closed the gap to three points, 14-11, with 12:12 left until halftime. Over the next 10 minutes, Olivet out-scored Adrian, 26-10, to take its largest lead of the half, 40-21. Two Bulldog free throws made the score 40-23 at halftime.
- In the second half, the Comets extended their lead to as many as 25 points on two occasions, 57-32 and 59-34. Adrian cut its deficit down to 16 points before Olivet pushed its advantage back to 24 points, 75-51. The closest the Bulldogs was nine points in the final minutes of the game.
- Johnson scored a team-leading 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from behind the arc.
- Sophomore Lorris Upshaw had 18 points and five assists.
- Senior Noah Wiswary netted 14 points.
- Upshaw and senior Dane Vos each grabbed seven rebounds.
- With his six three-pointers made and 10 three-point attempts, Johnson became Olivet's career leader in both categories. He now has 141 made and 435 attempts. The previous records were 140 made three-pointers by Travis Gessner from 1999-2002, and 430 attempts by De'Andre Pruitt from 2002-06.
- Nick Seifert led all players with 21 points.
- Kendall Bellamy recorded a double-double, 16 points and 14 rebounds.
- Kendall Chrismon added 12 points.
- De'Ovion Price and Jonathan Duvall finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- The Comets head to Grand Rapids Saturday to play Calvin University at 3 p.m.
