Men’s basketball team loses 83-70 to DePauw in home-opener
OLIVET, Mich. – Playing on its home court for the first time this season, the Olivet College men’s basketball team suffered an 83-70 loss to DePauw (Ind.) University tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

OLIVET, Mich. – Playing on its home court for the first time this season, the Olivet College men's basketball team suffered an 83-70 loss to DePauw (Ind.) University tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

- The Comets built an early seven-point lead, 9-2, at the 14:56 mark. The Tigers came back with an 11-2 run to take their first lead of the game, 13-11. The teams exchanged baskets over the next seven minutes, which resulted in two tied scores and four lead changes. DePauw seized its largest lead of the game, 25-20, with 3:07 left until halftime. Olivet made back-to-back baskets to trim its deficit to a point. The Tigers put four of the final five points on the scoreboard to go up 29-25 at the break.
- DePauw's lead expanded to 12 points, 47-35, at the 14:02 mark of the second half. The Comets fought back and made it a one-possession game, 52-50, with 9:43 left. Olivet did not get any closer for the rest of the game.
- Junior Ryan Bart made his first six baskets, including five from behind the arc, to finish with a game-high 18 points.
- Sophomore Lorris Upshaw came off the bench to score 16 points.
- Senior Ryan Robinette tallied 13 points.
- Freshman Haidyn Garrison grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
- Five DePauw players reached double figures in the scoring column.
- Camden Brown and Elijah Hales each scored 16 points.
- Kyle Lillwitz added 15 points.
- Grant Niego and Grant Gohmann contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.
- Sam Jacobs pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
- The Comets are back in action tomorrow when they host Finlandia University at 12 p.m. The start time was moved up due to the impending winter storm watch for the area.
