- After the Comets made the first basket, the Thunder went on a 15-1 run over the next four and one-half minutes. Olivet scored the next five points to make the score 15-8. Five straight Trine points pushed its lead back to double digits. The Thunder's advantage increased to 21 points twice, including 48-27, at halftime.
- In the second half, Trine extended its lead to 23 points on three occasions. After the last time, 57-34, the Comets went on a 16-1 run in a three-minute span of clock time to trim their deficit down to eight points. A 10-1 Thunder spurt, followed by an 8-0 Olivet run made the score 68-59 at the 10:20 mark. The Comets did not get any closer for the rest of the game.
- For the game, Trine made 35 baskets, including 13 from behind the three-point arc compared to 25 baskets, with 10 three-pointers for Olivet. Both teams drained 12 free throws.
- Sophomore Drew Moore came off the bench to score 14 points, making 6-of-8 baskets.

- "Our biggest concern coming into today's game was turnovers, and in particular first-half turnovers," said Olivet head coach Sam Hargraves. "Trine is very good at forcing turnovers, and we had 13 at halftime. Even if we only have six or seven, which is too many, we are much more within striking distance instead of being down 21. As usual with this team, they don't quit. We showed some very nice potential of what we hope we can become in the next couple years."
- Next Wednesday's game against Adrian College has been postponed due to MIAA COVID-19 protocols. The Comets' next scheduled game is one week from today against Albion College. Tip-off at the Cutler Event Center is 4 p.m.
