FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College junior Shawn Pardee has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for men's basketball.
Pardee led all players with 27 points in helping the Comets upset No. 18-ranked Carthage (Wis.) College Dec. 31. He pulled down five rebounds and recorded five assists, while having only one turnover in 37 minutes of action. Pardee drained 7-of-14 baskets, including 4-of-6 from three-point land, and 9-of-10 free throws for his 27 points, which was one shy of matching his season-high.
"This honor is well-deserved for Shawn," said Olivet head coach Sam Hargraves. "He played a great overall game and led us to a huge win against a quality opponent. I am looking forward to seeing what Shawn can do for us the remainder of the season."
For the season, Pardee leads Olivet in scoring at 18.8 points per game, while making a team-best 30 three-pointers. He also tops the team with 24 assists.
The Comets open MIAA play Wednesday night when they travel to play Hope College. Tip-off from the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland is 7:30 p.m.
